Hi, I’m back. Again. We had Christmas break where I got to go home to Tennessee for three weeks and it was so amazing. I loved being home and just being with my family, even if we weren’t playing games, watching movies, or even talking, it was just so nice to be home and getting to rest and just hang out and read a lot was seriously my favorite. I’m a huge bookworm so getting to just sit and read for hours by the fireplace was incredible. Fireplaces literally stir my affections for Jesus and I just love them a lot. So home was great. I miss it a lot. The last day I was there, when I was literally in the airport about to leave at 7 a.m. , I saw the most beautiful sunrise God has ever given Johnson City. Where the airport is, it’s super flat, but the skyline is all mountains and just ahh, beautiful. But the colors were vivid orange, yellow, and pink, coming just right over the peaks. And even though I was in the tiny little airport and I was leaving, I had this overwhelming sense of home, and that no matter where I am in school, or where I’m travelling to, or just what season of life I’m in, I know I can always go back there and be home and be safe.
But, being back at Link has been awesome, and don’t get me wrong I LOVE being here. This week was Beards ’N’ Beauty week, where the guys and girls were separated and women learned about just becoming a Christian woman, wife, and mother, while the guys learned about just being a man, and a Christian man of God at that. Our speakers were so stellar and I cannot imagine trying to put everything we’ve learned on here so I’m just going to talk about one of them.
Jen Ford spoke to us Tuesday on living adventurously. Literally the whole time she was speaking I was like “Oh my gosh, I want to be her, she is me” in a totally not-weird way. She has such an amazing life and has lived out so many dreams and adventures. She was Alice in wonderland at Disney world, she went skydiving, she climbed mt. Kilimanjaro, and run a lot of marathons! Just, wow. Wow. How freaking awesome is that? And she lives with such an amazing outlook on life, just living day by day, taking it as it comes, and loving every second of it. The amazing thing is that this is God’s will for us! We are not called to a boring life. Some people aren’t adventurous in the same ways but excitement and surprise can be found in the mundane even. We’re called to an abundant life it says it John 10:10 which says “The thief came to steal, kill, and destroy. I came so that they may have life and have it abundantly.” An abundant life is one that is exciting, adventurous, and not anxious and fretful. So do not let your life’s abundance be stolen from you and do not overlook it within the busyness of life. Go find your adventure, do something exciting, fun, and outside of the box. So to quote Ellie from UP, “Adventure’s out there!” so go find it.
